Mariachi Spectacular de Albuquerque Showcase Competition Concert

The Mariachi Spectacular de Albuquerque Showcase Competition Concert is a premier event where talented musicians from across the country, who have participated in the 3-day Mariachi Spectacular Conference, come together to perform and compete. This exciting competition gives participants the chance to showcase their skills to the people of Albuquerque while vying for the coveted opening slot in the prestigious Mariachi Spectacular Concert, held the following night at the Sandia Casino Amphitheater.

Musicians are grouped into categories including Elementary School, Middle School, High School, College, and Open. Each group is limited to a seven-minute performance, and no musical piece may be repeated once performed. One winner will be chosen from each category, and there will be an overall winner of the event. All category winners will have a professional production video created, courtesy of Mariachi Spectacular, which will be featured on our official Mariachi Spectacular YouTube Channel.

For family and friends unable to attend, the entire Friday night Showcase event is broadcast live online, reaching national and international audiences. Over the past two years, our broadcasts have averaged over 25,000 viewers.

THE 2026 Mariachi SHOWCASE SHOWCASE COMPETITION RULES

Mariachi Showcase Rules

All members of the performing group MUST be registered in the Mariachi Spectacular Conference/workshops. Roll call of each member will be verified prior to performance.
ALL members of a performing group will perform with that group only.
Performing time will not be more than 7 minutes. Groups exceeding the time limit established for the competition will be disqualified. At least two timekeepers will start the clock on the first note you play through your last note. Talking or other activities will be included in your allotted time.
Music selections may not be repeated by groups during the concert. Choices of music selections will be approved on a first come first serve basis. The earlier you submit the music selections, the better your chances that they will be approved. Submit your music selections by using registering on line, Mariachi Spectacular will confirm your music selections by E-mail or telephone.
Each group will be introduced by name, the city you are from, school name, and the name of the director. If you want to include additional information or recognition, you must submit it in writing by date to be announced.
